I am a deeply experiential being. I have only one Channel: the 13-33, the Channel of The Prodigal. My personality sun (64) is collective abstract and my design sun (35) is collective abstract. I have learned the hard way, time and again, that you cannot fight the fates. But what does this actually mean? It’s probably because I have so much abstract activation in my Design that I’ve taken a particular interest in The Human Experiential Way. There is a profound personal resonance with this captivating collective process. And because I recently experienced the full effect of this unpredictable force in my own life (not for the first time and certainly not for the last) my 1st Line Personality found immense comfort in rabbit holing “the experiential way” deeper than I ever have before…

First of all, the human experiential way is part of the collective circuit. Collective circuitry is designed for SHARING what is of value to the collective. But the circuit itself is divided into two different energetic streams. One is logical and one is abstract. The logical stream follows a particular pattern. Logic says a + b = c and can safely guarantee that outcome. Logic is concerned with refining a process to maximize its efficiency. The 48-16, Channel of the Wavelength, is a great example of collective logic at work. The Wavelength perfects a process through repetition and eventual mastery.
The collective abstract does not work this way. The abstract says you will enter into a process with NO guarantee of its outcome. A could take you to J then S then back to D and all around and burn it down and in the end you’re left with – okay THAT happened and WHAT was it all about?!? The abstract process is about learning to enjoy the ride without knowing where you’re going. It’s about surrendering to an experience without expectation. It’s about accepting that understanding will only arrive in hindsight, once you are no longer in the experience, and that the wisdom you distill is meant to be shared for the benefit of the whole. The 13-33 is in fact the culmination of the entire abstract stream. The 33rd Gate is a stop codon. The 33 is the final retreat and withdrawal at the end of the process from which the ultimate Revelation is born.
But if we return to the beginning, we begin with the 41 (Decrease) – the start codon. The 41 is the pressure to initiate, from a place of fantasy, fueled by a vision of what you imagine the experience to be. This fantasy is deeply coupled with Desire (in the 30th Gate). The 41-30, with its fantasy and desire, fuels the human experiential process. It’s what tempts us to take the leap! But the 30 is also known as the gate of the fates, and there is of course a reason. The Rave I’Ching keynote reads: “Freedom recognized as an illusion and limitation accepted as a fate.” It’s in the 30 that desire meets reality. This is where fantasy meets the Maya, with all its density and dissonance and everything you can’t control. This is where “the fates” say: you think you know but you have no idea. And when your dreams are dashed, you oft arrive at a point of Crisis. It’s no coincidence that the 36th Gate is the next checkpoint along this stream.
In a very practical sense, the experiential process thus far looks like: 1. I’m excited by the possibility of this thing 2. I dive into the experience with all my hopes and dreams 3. I’m met with a reality that isn’t quite what I imagined (oft an understatement) 4. And now I’m devastated that things didn’t go my way.
This is the point of Crisis. The darkening of the light.
Fortunately, like the entirety of the experiential stream, crisis is a temporary state. I would know. She was a recent visitor in my life…
Last year I fell madly in love. He was a 41 in his Personality Sun, so perhaps I should’ve have known all along. But the desire was SO great, and try as I might, it was coupled with so much expectation. The belief that he was the one. I had plans. We had plans. But alas, the fates intervened, and my vision of our perfect life imploded before my eyes. I didn’t see it coming. For a full month after our breakup (this past June), I wanted to die. Existence felt pointless, devoid of hope. I couldn’t understand it because I had entered the relationship “correctly” via my Strategy and Authority. But S&A is not a guarantee of success, especially for 3rd line beings with abstract circuitry who are designed to learn the hard way. While I was deep in the muck, I was desperate to make sense of it, even though I knew I couldn’t… well aware that clarity comes after.

Which brings me to the 35th Gate, my Design Sun: Progress. This is where experience is given a voice. After crisis, you eventually pull yourself out of the muck, lick your wounds, and charge forth with your newfound awareness. And in fact, I find often times that the deeper I dive into darkness, the more fuel for the fire of progress. It’s not uncommon for me to quantum leap after periods of great strife. The 35 sits in the throat center of the BodyGraph and it is the voice of “I feel…” This is the voice that shares what it feels about the experiences it has. Not what it knows, but what it gathers. The 35 is technically the completion of the experiential aspect of the stream, though not the completion of the entire abstract process. That is the task of the 13-33… to reflect on the past and tell the story through to its final reveal.
If you have the 41-30, the 36-35, or the 13-33 (among others) you are a an experiential being, and you’re not designed to “control” your life. You’re designed to surrender to it. Of course this is true for ALL beings, according to Human Design. But with abstract circuitry, you especially shouldn’t attach to outcomes. As uncomfortable as that might be, it’s a disservice to yourself and your highest potential, because you never know where life will take you, and that’s how you’re intended to live.
My own life has been a journey in opening more to this practice. To surrendering to the mystery and releasing control. To trusting in what is meant. And it definitely hasn’t been easy. Certainty is incredibly comforting. There is a part of me that so desperately wants life to be logical. That so desperately wants the guarantee. And another part that knows life wouldn’t be nearly as exciting if I knew the end of the story at the start.
